Hi All,

The winter is fast approaching and my car is getting caked in ice/frost every morning.

Now, I don't mind, as my pride and joy is in the garage and comes out in the nice weather, like today!!.....Mrs Ice is insisting that her car goes in the other garage......which means my winter hack, an estate E320cdi S211 has to stay out in all weathers.

The thing is, that I am getting rather attached to the old girl...she is absolutely mint. I have polished and put a layer of wax on her but I am sick of scraping the ice every morning.

So over to you all...what is the best way of keeping the windscreen clear or frost-free whilst outside overnight.

PS. winter hack looking good and the torque is getting adictive!

Blanket over the windscreen, tucked into the doors?

I don't scrape, I leave the engine running for 5mins and stand in the bay window with a coffee whilst it melts.

Actually next best thing is to run a fanheater in the car for about 10 mins, clears all the windows and warms up the interior. My first suggestion still wins though.

The idea is, not to have the hassle in the morning, without ruining the car as well.

I'm going to put some newspaper on the screen tonight and keep my fingers crossed!

Just not sure if it will stick and cause even more problems?

Tbh if you had a car cover it would probably take the same amount of time to get it off the car and put away then it would to de-ice the whole car. I would just get a cover for the windscreen and get some de-iver and a ice scraper.

Nice car by the way smile

nonowarm water freezes very fast, if your going to do that use cold water, won't re freeze or crack your windscreen.
But the op should use an old towel! Works perfect.
