Vid to follow, but a security fog. Just had a demo and I'm glad we warned the fire brigade, you couldn't see down the lane and 4 people came running thinking the barn was on fire! (and added bonus you don't get with an alarm).

For 20 minutes you couldn't see the end of your nose in the garage.

We used to fit them, "Smoke Cloak", in a number of our stores (high value stock). It's a breathable vapour but within 5 secs of activation, indeed, you can't see a thing.

Every time we installed a system, the local Fire brigade were informed as well as info signs on the front and back doors. Sometimes got a false activation which allowed the local brigade to "sharpen their axes" on our shop front.

Yup. When he said I need to call the Briage first I thought it was a bit unnecessary.

When the whole lane was engulfed in it I realised why!!

The other good thing was going off upstairs also filled the car bays below.

So what's the idea?

Someone nicks your car, then instead of getting away, the crash it into your/your neighbour's car/house/tree instead? hehe

Didn't TOAD have an in car system like this a while back?

It was a small vial of oil that went onto a heated element and filled the car full of dense smoke.

This product is called fog bandit:

I'll upload the vid of it in my garage (and one of the garage looking like it is on fire!) shortly.

Note it isnt a very interesting video after the first 5 seconds!

I'd be interested in the approximate costs of a standalone double garage installation, looks like a great product, one of those 'why didn't I think of that' ones.

Thanks for sharing.

Will advise when the quote comes in.

One unit can do a bloody large area, this fired for 8 seconds on test and filled a 3 bay garage and about 200m of lane!!

You would have to be worried about the effect on a nearby road, if the recent motorwork firework display case was anyhitng to go by.

Looks like a great idea, one of those "I wish I'd thought of it" moments...

Would be better if the delivery was a bit more sudden though, like the petrol station fire suppression systems:

True, although we opened the front doors up to let it out - the main purpose is for the top part. It isn't a main road - just a lane, but I take your point.

I'm struggling to see how it works? Surely it has to be manually activated else you just get a false alarm setting it off and presumably costing you a fortune to recharge the system? IF so, you are just sat up watching a monitor all night with a big red button. hehe

How is it a deterrent, particularly if it's hidden and thieves don't know about it?

Here you go. This actually deployed slower than usual due to the way it had been setup for the demo - usually even quicker. Seems quick enough to me!

You set it to trigger in the same way as any alarm - movement sensors, door sensor etc. Depending on the size of the room or building it will do 20 or so deployments before it needs re-charging. it's in addition to the usual security and means even if they get in and dont care about alarms, they cant see what they are doing.

It hangs about for quite a while - I couldnt see a thing upstairs for a good 15-20 mins.
