Mclaren SLR Roadster
Discussion
You even had one of those days where you see a Mclaren Mercedes SLR Roadster sitting there, you ask the owner if you can sit in it and instead he tells you to take it for a spin? And take your mate too to film it........?
I had one of those sort of days yesterday!
What a car!!!!!! The noise of the supercharger is awesome and the power is immense!
Anyway, here's the video I thought I'd share with you all:

How did you happen upon this scenario?
I'd taken my car to be used in a photoshoot for some expensive watches (some of which were worth more than my car
), and another guy turned up with the SLR Roadster. Then after chatting with him for a minute or 2 I asked if he'd mind if I could sit in it so my mate could take a picture. Then when I got in it, he said the keys were in it if I wanted to take it for a drive. At first I thought he was joking, but then I asked if he was being serious and he just casually said "yeah, be my guest".

Couldn't sleep last night for thinking about how random but brilliant an experience it was!

I had something similar a few years ago. When working in corporate finance I went to see a client to sign some papers and whilst there I noticed his then new Ferrari 360 spider outside the office so when we had finished I cheekily asked if he would take me for a blast in it which he was more than happy to do. Went for a 10 minute spin and the pulled up at a garage to turn round and he jumped out, threw me the keys and said "you're driving back" I was gob smacked as it was very much one of those tick on life's to do list accomplished at only 19 (wasn't to know I would be selling the things a few years later!).

It was also a manual thank god and was every bit as good as I would have expected. Funnily enough the owner seemed to get as much pleasure from my reaction as I had from driving the thing.
When I then moved into selling super cars I always made a point of letting people take pictures or sit in the various cars i was lucky enough to be driving and whenever possible take them for a spin. Insurance wouldn't have allowed others to drive unfortunately. Distinctly remember a work experience kid smacking his head on the passengers window whilst fish tailing out of a wide junction :-)
Oh yeah, that was in Yorkshire too. Perhaps people just nicer up there...?!!!

Aye. We're alreet up int Yorkshire! Getting to drive a Ferrari at 19 is pretty amazing though! Not many can say they've done such a thing like that!

Best start button ever
Not if you cant remember the bit in any of the car reviews to tell you where it is!!!!

Must have looked a right tool sat there for nearly a minute before having to ask how to start the damn thing.

Gorgeous car though - I know they get some stick for not being a "proper" McLaren, but it looks & goes like one to me!

The thing is, every car review mentions the "Start" button but being sat in the car I can imagine I'd go blank as well - I bet the owner was sat there pissing himself though

The owner had actually just walked off by this point, luckily my mate in the passenger seat remembered. But think it was definitely a case of giddyness taking over and clouding my vision!

I agree its probably not really a proper Mclaren, was more the sort of thing you'd expect to be an ultimate AMG or a Brabus!
