Tempted by a cheap impreza turbo for the winter to enjoy while I take my evo off the road to do a bit of maintenance and mainly to keep it in the garage and not drive it on the salty roads.

Anything in particular I should watch out for?

Rust, they like to rust. Normal checks apply, make sure that you drive one for a few miles and get the box oil warm, then try three point turns, if transmission shows signs of winding up, centre diff is failing.

The latter happened on mine, not a huge issue but can be costly to repair

Apparently prone to big end failure if oil not changed correctly. I bought one a couple if months ago and the big ends went within two weeks. I hadnt changed the oil though! hehe

They do like to rust, as mentioned.
