Hello guys,

Just thought i'd post this on behalf of someone from the FocusST forums, as hadn't seen it mentioned:

We were on our way home after being at the Pumabuild rolling road/open day.
We'd had a great time there, spent the day with a great bunch of people & some cracking cars there too.
My ST had performed well on the rollers, it had also been chosen to be one of the ones featured in Fast Ford magazines coverage of the day, it had been photo'd & they had all the information on it, we were both really proud.
We were driving along a dual carriageway, it was dark, raining & there was a lot of traffic about. We were in the outside lane, there was a row of stationary vehicles on our right that were waiting in a feeder lane to cross the oncoming lanes of traffic.
As we went past this queue of vehicles, a grey car in that queue suddenly pulled out straight into my o/s front corner / front wheel....
This sent us airborne & left, we flew straight over a brand new focus that was in the inside lane, landed very heavily infront of that car & went straight through a row of bollards at the side of the road, we came to rest against a steel lamppost outside a row of shops that are set back from the main dual carriageway.
Thankfully my better half Emma got out of it relatively unscathed, I wasn't as lucky though, I was ambulanced to hospital with various injuries...
The person in the car that hit us didn't even wait or check to see if anyone was hurt, they just drove off as quickly as possible.
The police attended, we were told that they would be checking all the CCTV in the area but as yet we haven't heard anything.
My car was recovered straight away back to Pumabuild, we are currently waiting to get a decision from the insurance company regarding repairs to my ST....The damage is pretty severe to say the least, but considering the smack we sustained I'm so glad we were in a car that protected its passengers so well...
I'm absolutely heart broken at seeing my pride & joy end up like this, anyone that knows me knows how much this car means to me.
We are appealing to anyone that witnessed the collision, or knows of a grey car that was in the Great Barr area of Birmingham last Saturday afternoon at approximately 4.30pm that has got n/s damage on it to please get in contact with us, there were witnesses on scene, but anyone else that has any information please help, really need to find the person that caused all this.
Thanks for reading.

Any manufacturer markings in the mirror? Or can somebody ID the model from it?

That colour could be a key to helping find it too, green with a grey flip it looks like to me. As above the mirror cap should have casting/moulding marks inside it. Post a photo of the side that mounts to the car and the side as seen from the passenger as well, this will likely be more distinctive.

That shade of green screams mk1 Renault Laguna to me. Sad I know.

More info :
- Happened by Scotts Arms going towards M6 J7.
- We think it was a Dark Grey car as he left us his mirror cap. He would have nearside front wing damage.

How did the car that get hit manage to drive away if it did that much damage to the focus?

I'm posting this on behalf of a member of the forums, so unfortunately cannot take anymore photos etc myself.

If you read the story, most of the damage wasn't caused by the initial car impact, although there would have been enough for it to need repairing.

Good luck with tracing the other car. Plod are miraculous at finding them using even the smallest fragment of wreckage, matched to a make, model and year. I recall n episode of Taffic Cops (or whatever they call it now) where a smashed headlight glass was reconstructed, identified and eventually linked to a car.
Shame about the Focus. I ever I have to strip down to one vehicle a Focus ST would probably be it.
