My nieghbour owns a 53 plate subaru forester and she made the mistake of takng it to a place that sells more bikes then fixes cars. Who may or may not have the word fraud in their nick name.

They replaced the rear strutts and charged OEM prices. However they didn't fit OEM strutts have a clever little self levelling mechanism in them which uses the suspension movement to pump up pressure which allows the strutt to take 50% of the cars wieght. now her car is dragging its arse around the deck as the normal strutts don't take any wieght.

So where does she stand with these bike shop as to getting her money back as frankly i have told her not to let them near it with a spanner.

I'm assuming it's the newish arm of Halfords that has taken over national tyres or something similar? If so, it will alomst certainly be the same bunch of mechanics that worked there previously, just in an orange uniform instead. If the wrong part has been fitted I'd just take it back and exlpain the problem - they should swap them for free, maybe charge the extra price that the OEMs would cost although it would be nice to be waived due to the cirumstances. You certianly shouldn't have to pay for the whole lot to be done again.

Obvious. If the car's not right, take it back.
