Obviously they will be slightly taller than the 215s but that shouldn't make too much difference should it?

Just looking at a set of winter tyres

Thx

Yes

No

Pick one.

There will likely be the clearance, and the wheel width will likely be ok. Your insurance company WILL need to know though. Best ask an owners club.

The change will add a further 1.5% (percent) inaccuracy to your car speedo - 9mm to diameter.
Don't know if this is an issue.

Hmmm, it's higly likely to make it more accurate.

Shouldn't make any difference, he's making the tyres wider not taller.

It'll make it slightly taller as well. The 45 will be 45% of 225mm which will be slightly more then 45% of 215mm.

Quite correct and he'll be going 1.5% faster than the reading if it were true to begin with. Since speedos must by law read 0 to 10% faster he'll only under read if the speedo over-reading was 1.5% or less.

impossible to answer without information about the car, and the rims, if 215 is already quite wide for the rim then 225 might be quite bulged, and similarly if the clearances are tight with 215s you could get scrubbing with 225s
