A brand new car for £69 a month? Why not?

I like the Duster. It's very cheap but has enough equipment, looks decent and seems solid enough.

Not sure about the Sandero though.

No, appears to be manual transmissions only.

As i understand it the CVT from the Micra will be coming as will an LPG version. It also seems the Renualt Wind (two seat nonsense) might also be coming back as a Dacia..........

I'm an idiot that doesn't understand finance, but that sounds like a tiny amount of money for a brand new car.

Shame it isn't a new car I want to buy.

Despite the value, I just feel that the cost of a little bit of my soul being destroyed everytime I got into the car might prove unmanageable in the end.

While there are BMW barge sheds out there, I won't be touching Dacia.

I can't see myself ever being in the market for the cars that they sell, however it's a refreshing change from the keyless auto handbrake power boot versions of cars these days.

I dont mind the duster as long as its not in dog ste brown.

In all honesty i was in a Dacia taxi in Switzerland recently. I was pleasently surprised. Its not the most luxurious and does not sport the latest materials/textures for its plastics but its comparable to most french produced cars of 5-10 years ago style wise inside.

The question is for the right price why wouldnt you?

It's not the type of car I'd buy for myself, I'm one of the "BRAND NEW CAR FOR £250??? BUT YOU COULD GET A SECOND HAND XXXXX FOR THAT!!!" brigade. But if I was in the market for something similar, damn right I'd buy one.

Are they really £70 a month? I might look into one for my mum.

If I was in the market for that sort of car, I'd test drive one along with everything else.

I really, really hope I'm never in the market for that sort of car, though. hehe

No problem with the image, but :

1. 3* ENCAP... not sure how much of a difference it makes in the real world;
2. No air con on base models and the engines are a bit lacking, at least lower down the range.

But give me all-TCE engines, air con and 5* ENCAP and I'd be there like a shot.

Depends on whether you hit anything, I suppose. My car was never even tested, but I'm sure it would be worse. smile

Fair point but then if you're willing to drive anything old enough that it's never been tested (15 years + or very obscure) then you are in a very different market indeed from Dacia. I'd consider the Sandero's rivals to be stuff like the Hyundai i20 or a nearly new Clio/Fiesta etc.

Got to be better then the Citroen/Peugeot/Toyota thing!

Indeed, not comparable markets, but I still couldn't give a damn about its NCAP rating.

I hate the modern obsession with crash protection - it seems to have almost single-handedly ruined mainstream drivers' cars.

The Sandero with 3 star NCAP is the previous shape, the new one should hit 4 stars.

Autocar had a gripe with the lower engine too, to put it into perspective a Polo S has 60ps, A Fiesta Studio has 60ps and a Corsa S has 65ps, the 1.2 Sandero is 75ps.

No A/C, all of the above don't have A/C either, the Polo retails at £10490, Fiesta £9795 and Corsa £9495, ok you will be able to get a discount but the equivalent more powerful engined Sandero will cost £6595.

Don't really get the issue with lack of A/C on lower spec ones or the entry level engine.

Agree that the 60ps base model engines are shocking and that the Sandero is no worse than its rivals in that regard. But the question isn't - is it comparable to its rivals, it's 'would you' and I wouldn't with them, either.

Spec wise the Fiesta and Corsa can probably be had at £8k after discount vs £6.6k for the Sandero (if you're not bothered about 5 doors on the rivals) and will retain most or all of that at resale. Polo will be more, but Ibiza or Fabia won't. I think they also offer air con as an option, whereas the mid range Sandero doesn't (Ibiza and Fabia definitely do).
