Mate of mine is after a car but I'm a bit stuck what to suggest. Had a quick look in the classifieds but nothing jumps out. His budget will be less than 15k and no more, something with more than 200bhp, either RWD or 4WD but not FWD. Also has to be petrol and have 4 doors.

That's all I could come up with too. There really isn't much out there.

V70 T5
Cheap as chips if you don't mind white.
Ticks box at 200+ having 260... (many "white" ones are remapped to 300 - quite a lot are not)

Evo's and Subaru's, while some are reasonable it's because the running costs are so high. Initially I thought S4, BMW 330, etc but I've yet to see a decent one for the money.

You can't find a decent 330 for £15k, not sure if serious?

The obvious answer is some flavour of BMW (3 or 5, 6 cylinder petrol). Then, as you mentioned 4WD I assume said mate may live in a part of the country that warrants it. In which case budget a set of Winter tyres and wheels into the equation..a left field choice would be a AWD Subaru Legacy.

..small Lexus, or Audi A4 Quattro/S4

I have only looked quickly. Lots of the ones I saw had pretty high mileages and were all grey.
