What £10k Range Rover?
Discussion
Theoretically, if I were looking to downsize the fleet and have just one car it would have to be a Range Rover. I love 'em and, other than spirited driving, do everything I need: waft around, going shooting, tips runs, etc.
So, if I wanted to pocket some cash and limited myself to a £10k spend, what should I get from the list below?
1. Mint Range Rover Classic LSE softdash on LPG
2. Mint Range Rover P38a, either a DHSE, or an HSE/Westminster V8 on LPG
3. Range Rover L322 Td6 Vogue SE
Economy is reasonably important, hence diesel or LPG options only.

Much though I love the P38, even mint ones have a bork factor several shades too high to be an everyday proposition..... so I'd be buying the L322, that TDV6 lump is a peach and the car's several orders better than what came before.
I'd still be keeping a "just in case" fund though.
I can't imagine you finding a TDv6 L322 for £10k a TD6 perhaps I'd still be keeping a "just in case" fund though.
If it were my 10k I'd be buying either an LPGd or TD6 L322

I was just going to ask why there was no LPG'd L322 in your list. That's what I would go for. Stronger gearbox than the oil burners as well as a much nicer drive. If it were my 10k I'd be buying either an LPGd or TD6 L322
The other option is save your self 8.5k and buy a 100k 4.0 se p38 or likes. OK 13mpg is poor in town. But its gear box will not launch itself. You can leave it in car parks and not care too much about it. It will have niggles but you can live with them if it is a half decent to start with.
I did this if it breaks I'll scrap it break it what ever and get my money back it,s only a 1500 quid car and been good so far

Totally agree!

I've had a few rangies and never seen a link between a low mileage, shiny paintwork and reliability. It seems to be luck of the draw.
My preference would be a P38 as the classics are just as likely to give mechanical grief (in my experience) but you also have structural rot to contend with. Half the time it will be covered in waxoyl so you can't see it.
I would especially look for one thats had a replacement new engine/rebuild. They are out there.
