I've noticed that other road users treat you differently depending what you're driving. Whether it be being let out of junctions, people moving out the way when in an overtaking lane, or those that see you and suddenly change lanes and try and "race".

The one that irritates me the most are those in the overtaking lane of the motorway travelling at 60ish who won't move at all, what difference is it if I'm in a shopping trolley or a supercar just move out of the way if someone wants to go faster than you do. If I'm in the work car no one moves out of the way, when I'm in my personal car cars seem to move before I'm anywhere near them.

Anyone have certain things happen to them when driving certain cars?

In my S2000, I always get people trying to beat me off the line. I live in London so they're more than welcome to go ahead of me, I'll only end pulling next to them at the next set of lights 100m later.

My Corsa seems to attract a lot of negativity when overtaking, most overtakes get some sort of negative reaction. Yet when I've driven other cars and done the same sort of overtakes there hasn't been any response at all. My dad also noticed it when borrowing it!

I had a BMW 5 series Saloon and was treated like an abcess.

I hired an A4 Saloon for a week and was treated like an abcess on an abcess.

I now own an A4 Avant and people couldn't be nicer. Go figure.

my mrs complains people pull out in front of her all the time, i thought she was exagerating, but driving her purple KA for a few days, it amazing how invisible you become, people totally misjudge your speed and intentions. i guess people make rather big assumtions about such a car. maybe ill get her a "murdered" 5 series next lol.

Very true statement OP. When I was pootling around in my Fiesta on the motorway/dual carriageways, i'd come up behind people in the right hand lane - they refuse to move out the way and will happily sit in the right hand lane with the left lane completely clear. In my RX-8, everyone seems to dive out the way as soon as they can! I think size and how aggresive your car looks make a massive difference when on the road and how others react to you.

In my old Astra I didn't get any hassle.
In my Prelude I got given a bit more distance from most people behind (go figure), and on the motorways people were more willing to move out the way.
In my flatmates Mondeo I pretty much get tailgated everywhere.
In the Ignis Sport I'm borrowing at the moment I haven't had any problems yet, but only been in it a week!

^^^this.

I used to noticed other driver trying to 'bully' me when I was in the wifes Sport Ka.

Funnily enough, I never had the same when driving my black, long wheelbase 7 series...

In my Merc people tailgate me but in the Audi they stay back.

Mind you. When I'm in the Audi I tend to tailgate Merc drivers as they are s. s I tell thee.

40 something dads driving Mum buses seem to have the biggest issue with my 996, even my kids notice it.

The Clio tends to attract boy racers, 95% of which I let get on with it but just occasionally it's nice to show them wink

Everyone stopped to let me through or let me out when I had the Elise, even if it was daft for them to do so. It was quite amusing.

My MX5 always got a good reaction, certainly waked folk up and kids loved it.

The 200SX I've not had long enough to gauge but folk seem to tailgate me in the snow, then back off when they realise the car goes sideways whenever you want hehe

Yep, universal good reaction from everyone in mine.

Everyone hated me in the 535.

Everyone avoided me in the matte black E30 with no grill and the rear doors kicked in.

No one notices the Civic.

I have "pull out in front of me" wrote on the front and "tailgate and overtake no matter how past im travelling" written on the back of my '89 mini.

Then get bemused looks when I come flying past.

In the Civic Type R, I do get people trying it on at the lights, or trying to overtake me when I'm already traveling at pace in order to prove how quick their TDI is. In the works Prius, traveling at the same sort of speeds, I don't get anywhere near as much hassle.

If that were true, people would be cowering in fear if an Alfa Brera pulled up behind them, but they don't.

I don't think there's anything in this. I just think with the sheer volume of cars on the roads now, it's a law of averages thing. People drive the same regardless of what car I'm in!

The Cayman S I owned was the worse car I have ever had for attracting racers, tailgaters and general bad road manners.

The TVR I currently have is the complete opposite with me being allowed out of junctions and lots of admiring nods and glances from other road users.......which I do use as an excuse to clear it's throat biggrin
