well saga is a bit strong...
So i was idly browsing the web as you do, and for no real reason i put my new car details in the DVLA online vehicle enquiry (well i was checking if another car i'd seen was genuine, not a kit)
And it comes up as "Date of liability: 13/11/2012" and "Vehicle Status: Unlicensed"
This worried me somewhat, as the tax disk in the car (that i bought 2 weeks ago) says its good till the end of january 2013.
Thinking this is a computer error, i call the DVLA.
Having given various details and bodily fluid samples, i find out that, no, its not an error, the car was declared SORN on 13/11/2012!!!!!!!!
"so ive been driving around un-taxed for 2 weeks?"
"yes"
"oh... ok, erm... so why does the tax disk say....??"
"not to worry sir, we can re-instate the tax for you"
wow, so in a move of unusual good nature, the DVLA has actually done something nice for me!
I can only guess the previous owner SORN'ed the car when his insurance ran out just before he sold it to me. Thanks for telling me, like! Good job i didnt get pulled, thats all i can say.
Although i did go to at least 3 garages with ANPR in the last 2 weeks.
