Pulling up to the pub the other night my lights swept across this little beauty and memories of childhood 'automotive heroes' came flooding back.

Used to love seeing cars like this, they were so far above their humdrum donors and seeing one on the road was a real event. Turns out it belongs to the landlord and we geeked about cars for quite some time and he informed me that there are just 22 XR4is left on the road in the UK.

What rarities have you seen that immediately wound the clock back for you?

And at the other end of the rarities scale...

I understand only a handful of these have been registered in the UK, most of them with MG themselves!

Has someone been brave and actually bought one?

Going by the "MG6" badge I'd go for an MG6 wink

Yep, the new MG 6 - the first fruit of SAIC and MG's loins. Reputedly a pretty good steer, too.

Wandering off topic here, but a question that sometimes wanders into my head.
How many or few of a car would you consider there should be before it is classed as rare?

10, 50, 100, 500?

That's funny, stumbling home pissed a few weeks ago, I found myself at the local bus station. With it being 4am on a Saturday night/Sun Morning there were various Arriva 'helpers' dotted around the place, they park their cars in the bus stops so they can keep an eye on them while they're working.

One of them was a mint - eat your dinner off it - XR4x4. Ended up chatting to the fella for an hour or so, missed all my buses and had to get a friend out of bed to come pick me up

Saw one of those on the M25 the other day.
I cant remember the last time I had to read the badge to know what a car was.

Not super rare, but the first time I had seen one on the road - Clio V6!

Had to stop and watch it drive past the other week.

saw one of these at the O.K. diner near newark on trent a couple of weeks ago, I had to look at the badge to see what it was, didn't look too bad.

Looks like a number of these XR4x4 s have been exported so missing off the DVLA database, a PHer in sweden has 2 of them according to his garage,
Lucky Blighter!
I remember from my apprentice in a garage days, when these were new, dreaming of owning one myself.

There's a white unmolested XR4i in the street along from mine. The owner has had it since new, hasn't turned a wheel for years.

Also in the same street is one of these. Oh how pretty.... Only comes out about twice a year.
