Just got my renewal through, and it was £120 less than last year....

Then I went online to the same company and saved another £60 simply by asking for a requote.

Overall - £180 less than last year - and that is what I call a result!

No replies on the thread. Hardly surpirsing, as everyone prefers to join in the bhing, rather than the celebrating.

Well done OP thumbup

Well done you.

It beats my £110 increase to change the address on a policy that has less than 3 weeks to run.

Ok, just for balance, renual just came though the door for my pickup, it's some 170 more than last year (with zero changes to any detail etc.)

PITA as i now have to phone round to get a better deal again.

Happeneds every year, it's very rare i ever stay with the same company.

I was quite surprised that all mine came down this year, considering I've got a potential fault claim (undecided blame as yet) of £40k+ going against me.

I think that proves my point that everyone prefers to bh. There are already two whinges on here.

Petrol's gone up too, so has your weekly shop and most other things you buy have as well. Insurance can't be a permanently deflationary product, when everything that it covers increase in cost every year.

To a point, yes, but in the light of the car is worth less this year than it was last year (and it being new last tear was the excuse for it going up), what's the deal?

Look, i am not expecting it to go down per say, i am already at >max no claims etc, but for it to go up by >25% is laughable.

Completely irrelevant your insurance is there to cover third parties that you may cause damage to, whether your car is worth £1,000 or £100,000 that third party risk remains the same.

As Zollar says the majority of the risk carried is not the damage you can do to your car, it's the damage you can do with your car.

However, an amount of the risk carried does cover your own damage and whether your car is one, two, three or four years old, the parts still cost the same if they do need replacing. The cost of these parts and labour and paint is rising every year too.

My insurance is due within a month and this thread prompted me to do a quick quote.

Result! Looks like my insurance is dropping by around £100 to less than £300 for the first time ever!

I had my renewal last month, year older, but obviously a claim, oh and 3 points on the licence as well. I now have a skoda octavia vrs (which I hate)
My insurance? 600 quid. Cheapest its ever been! Was not expecting that.....

as I said, they use the excuse to put it up, so clearly it is an excuse as it never goes down.

Stop getting all defensive will you? - I am not asking you to take personally responsibility for the rip off that is the insurance industry

Eh? How can you possibly read what I've written as taking it personally?

It was an explanation.

If you want to explain why you think it's a rip off industry I could explain that to you too.
