The warranty on the 2009 supercharged range rover is coming to an end in January was quoted £1200 for a years warranty is it worth it, or should a slush fund of the equivant value be kept for maintenance car has done 35 k miles and annual mileage is around 9k miles a year.

Sell it. Get a newer one. 1200 is a lot towards a newer one. The potential of expense is vast, warranties don't pay everything. Could be a money pit. Or ignore this entirely.

Just bought a 56k mile 06 plate Audi RS4.

Warranty Direct have quoted £700 for 1x years cover, £1350 for 2x years cover and £1800 for 3x years cover. This was based on main dealer repairing the car, up to 24k miles per year and includes breakdown due to 'wear and tear'. Most other warranty companies wriggle out of a claim saying it was caused by 'wear & tear' - let face it most breakdowns are due to wear & tear!

As the car's mileage goes up they ask for a contribution of the cost of any new parts fitted but for an extra £75 for a 1x year policy and £150 for a 2 or 3 year policy no contribution will be charged.

The policy is recommended by honest John (Daily Telegraph motoring guru) http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/guides_warranty/

Bearing in mind the cost of repairing an Audi RS4 which potentially might have done more than 120k miles at the end of the policy, this sounds like good value.

Time will tell....................

I'd certainly get a quote from them.
