Hi all

Need some help here. I am in the early stages of setting up a business but this will require a long commute for me in the early days and so I need to buy myself a good motorway muncher. I will have a 140 mile round trip 5 days a week!

I need ideas for a car which fit the following:

Brilliant MPG
Comfortable
Reliable
under £10k

I know this is PH but would even consider LPG/Hybrid

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Something reliable, brilliant MPG and comfortable for the commute? Surely you've heard that you can buy mid sizes diesel powered saloon cars?

Vauxhall Insignia, Ford Mondeo, Honda Accord, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, etc etc, these types of car would fit your requirements.

I was browsing fleabay and Pug 607s seem pretty cheap, not sure how economical though or if they are reliable enough.

Mundano probably fits the bill if you aren't bothered about excitement or style!

I realy need it to be the best MPG as possible (new business start up costs etc.) I appreciate that the diesel saloons will return mid 40's but I was worried I may have been missing a hidden "gem"

I think the best option really is a 3 Series Diesel, probably 320d.
A citroen C5 may be good, don't know how reliable though, would almost certainly be super comfy and a diesel would get the MPG.

Best MPG? MINI One 1.6D should manage 65mpg on the motorway, I've no idea how comfortable they are though.

Seats are like sitting on granite slabs.

Your budget should give scope to find one of these and modernise the batteries. 100mpg ability I believe.
