Hey guys,

I need to top up the PAS fluid in the Ibiza. However, before I put it in I need to determine if I can use the Halfords stuff? Or is it typically specific with the Ibiza's and other VAG cars?

I would look in the handbook but I can't find it at the moment. The Haynes manual doesn't mention a specific type however it does mention using the specific G12 fluid for the coolant.

Many thanks and best regards,

Matt

many vw's use a mineral based pas fluid (my 99 passat does and it will say on the cap) and thats something Halfods don't sell!

If it does need mineral get some febi 6161 stuck in

IIRC you cant mix different kinds of fluids. VAG cars are meant to be quite fussy as well. Heard some peoples racks fail on mk4 golfs when not using the VAG stuff, am sure all VAG's run the same fluid? Well I know my mk4 shared the same fluid as quite a lot of stuff.

Just go in to you nearest VAG dealer or TPS and ask for power steering fluid. It's about £9 for a litre bottle when I got mine last year I think. But have a quick search on google and you should find what spec you need just to be 100% sure

I'm not not normally into manufactueres own stuff, however for my vw golf (mk4) I did buy the genuine stuff as ISTR it was different and not more expensive than halfords stuff. I think it was green and I've still got some. I say go genuine (it's not that expensive) and go to a vw dealer / tps they have it on the shelf
