Warning light comes on on dash when started.
After about 20 seconds or so the light reduces to a flash. Any ideas what it could be?
Light is a car with a padlock through it.

Car is a 10 plate Mazda 2.

I haven't seen it, so just going by what I've been told. And I can't think what it could be.

According to the Mrs' Mazda5 handbook

"This indicator light starts flashing every 2 seconds when the ignition switch is turned from the ON to the ACC position and the immobilizer is armed.

The light stops flashing when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the correct ignition key. At this time the immobilizer system is disarmed and the light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then goes out.

If the engine doesn't start with the correct ignition key, and the security indicator light keeps illuminating or flashing, the system may have a malfunction. Consult an authorized Mazda repairer.

It's a vehicle security warning light.
The car isn't recognising the advanced key, it can be caused by using the spare key, the battery in the main key being low or interference from other items, my 3 has a problem with mobile phone but other keys or electrical devices can cause it to happen.

As per the extract from a Mazda manual posted above, a light with a key inside a car is an immobiliser fault.

Had this before with a 58 plate Mazda2. It was due to a fault with the boot lock which was on it's way out (apparently a common fault). After a few weeks of the light appearing the alarm kept going off one night while it was parked up outside the house, we took it to Mazda who fixed the boot lock. Haven't had an issue since. Might be worth checking just incase.
