I am looking at getting my gf a Ford Ka for christmas, I have spotted this:

http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/2002...

I contacted the seller and a foreign man answers the phone and not a lady, he asked my budget and I sadi £600, £195 off the listed price and he said fine, also in the ad its states origonal milage which appears fishy to me. Am I being to suspicious?

Any help and thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks

chalkey

being only a ka make sure all the paper work tallys up and dont worrie about it too much. they are very simple cars and only real killer on them is rust on the sills and fuel cap

I would hazard a guess this was being sold by a Home trader not a private sale, seems strange to ask your budget when ringing up, Not a reason to rule it out just treat with a bit of caution, Mileage can be checked via old mot's, ensure you do an HPI check and unless you know about cars take someone with you who does. At this price point it really is all about how it drives, stops etc. If he is a trader you may get a bit of warranty but wouldnt bank on it.

Rust is the KA's enemy check around the fuel filler cap as this is a common problem.

I wouldn't discount it on the points you've raised. Go view it if it's local and judge for yourself. You'll soon know how many keepers it has had and who the current keeper is from the V5. Husband selling car for wife is very common, as is failing to put the word 'previous' in before a statement like that i.e. the car had 1 lady owner before it's current owner.
If it's not local and this stuff is worrying you, look for another one- the ka is not a rare car.
