The stepson has asked to spray his car with this stuff. Its relay my car which im allowing him to drive till march. He wants to change the color to Matt white. The car is currently silver/blue. He assures me this stuff peels of and if anything he is protecting the paint on the car while he drives it. Now a quick Google search shows people spraying this stuff on like there's no tomorrow claiming " no need to mask up, peel of when finished." Now there is clips of it being removed. But that is stuff they have just put on. Will it be as easy when its been on the car for 4 British weather months. Has any one used it on here, more importantly on a full car ?

Just don't fork out a load of money to have a 'professional' bodyshop do it.

Just tell him no. That way you can be sure.

He's already lucky enough to be allowed to use your car.

Of course there's probably nothing to worry about, as he will write it off long before the plastidip comes off wink

Regardless you have to ask why? On face value it would seem to be a total waste of money, even more so if they are only keeping the car for 4 months.

'Cus it's Matte White an it's ded cool ini brav.

Admittedly, I'm an 18 year old with a white car... with black wheels... and a boot spoiler. However it was glossy white from the factory and the wheels only cost me £10 to get some decent rubber (175/65/14 vs 195/50/15) on the car. The boot spoiler is also standard fare, though the amount of philistines that ask me if I put it on there infuriates me daily.

As a scouser I can confirm that "boss" means really: cool, dashing, good, quality, pleasing etc...

He's gonna spend an extra $112 a month to have a matte white car?

Seems sensible.

Have you thought about putting your foot down with such silly ideas?

Yes plastidip will still come off easily after four months.

Why not just sell him the car, and let him do whatever he wants?

My mate is looking into doing mine in White PlastiDip, just need to deliver it to him and leave it with him for a few days.

This is a video which highlights how easy it is to do yourself.

Purely from a functional point of view, would this be appropriate for a track car to try and protect the underlying paint work?

I watched the video of the chap doing the S4 matt black last night and to me, it looks like he made a right arse of it... he only masked the windows and then sprayed over the plastics, the grille, all the vents and so on. He peeled off the coating on the lights, granted it came off and left them as they should be but the fact it does peel off fairly easily made me wonder what happens round all the edges... ie, if you can peel it back with your thumb and pull it off, surely a 100mph headwind will have a damn good attempt at the same?

Must admit... I'm fairly interested given the old T5 runner looks like a pile of arse and I suspect no end of machine polishing will improve matters, so half debated something like this to make it look less sheddy for the winter months but having had a look, it just looks like a right half assed job. I think I'd rather mask the car up properly and hit it with gloss or matt plack paint rather than this Plastic Dip stuff.
