'Too much spec to list' furious

Am I the only person that gets annoyed about this? I put forward that this phrase should be banned from car adverts (If only I could actually manage that feat!)

When I look at a car advert I want it to tell me about the car, I want to know that the seller cares about selling the car. I mean if they are so lazy that they can't even write a couple of paragraphs, what hope can you have that they have taken care of it appropriately? It certainly puts me off.

I look at a lot of car adverts, as I imagine do most of you, there does seem to be more and more of this about.

If you were trying to get the best price and the most interest for your car what would lead you to believe that a two line advert is appropriate?

Oh and in case you were wondering it was this ad that set me off:

I most certainly wouldn't be keen to part with £14,000 on the basis of that write up!

agree,it gets on my chimes as well.

I read stuff like that as:

"too lazy to write anymore about the car, which also says alot about what I think of any potential purchaser. Why should I waste my time trying to sell it to anyone by giving more information, after all, I'm doing you a favour by listing it in the first place".

Laziness, and yes it puts me off too.

I was looking to buy a W123 and a 280CE was listed with 'too much spec to list'. Now, considering that W123s didn't really have that much in the way of optional extras I thought it was a particularly lazy attempt at an advert but as the car looked straight I gave the guy a ring to ask about this long spec list only to be told it'd take too long to go through it on the phone so why not come and see it!

I tried to explain that the car was 150 miles away so I'd rather know a little more about it first but was then told I was clearly a time waster and couldn't possibly understand the cars if I had to ask about their spec! It wouldn't have been so bad if he was willing to at least give me an indication of mileage or service history, the fine detail of the spec really wasn't that important. You have to wonder if some sellers actually want to sell their cars!

That's bad! The delusion and arrogance of some people is quite astounding!
