Door protectors...Good idea or bad?

I have just seen this video posted on a readers car thread.

Personally it just makes me cringe the thought that people will think "It's ok I have door protectors" BANG as they get out of their car.

If I'm honest if I saw someone opening their door like that or leaning their door against my car even with door protectors it would piss me right off.

Door protectors aside the video highlights how many people get out of their car which is why I always park miles away from anyone else...

I'm probably paranoid but I think they can probably still do damage...

Yup. Real life is a less-than-perfect place. No point getting upset about the inevitable wear and tear.

Mind you, if I parked in the far corner of a big empty car park on Mars and popped round the corner for two minutes I'd come back to find a filthy old van parked right next to me!
