new car coming 21st Dec car insurance question

My new car is coming next Friday and I am planning to transfer the insurance over on my current car which will remain on my drive for a few months while I sort what to do with it (currently being advertised with a local garage online). It's taxed until March 2013 (61 plate so no MOT).

Question is if it's not insured (and not being used) am I going to get fined? How can I mitigate this?

If it is taxed it must be insured. If off the road it can be SORNed and left untaxed.

SORN it and claim back the tax. Do the work you want then in March Tax it a fresh
