Narrowed it down in my opinion to the 2 cars in the title for my 18 year old lad. What are you opinions ? or any alternatives.

Is there really any need to spend 11k on a car for an 18 year old?
Yeah . basically there is he's been driving a year, not so much as a wheel curb on his Citreon C2 62 bhp, He's f
ked Uni off and has spent a 18 months as a Engineering apprentice, now passed that and onto phase 2 where he is earning far better than the average wage.(for an 18 year old) So all in all he deserves his rewards.
But thanks for your contribution.

Suzuki Swift ..like it ..

This - wheel curb or not, I can think better ways to invest 11K in a child's future than buying him a tepid hatch. Put it into a house deposit fund and you'll get rid of him quicker. If you really have to blow 11k on a car, instead of a tepid new hatch, why not buy an older hot hatch and used the vast amount of money saved to go towards the insurance?

Get the fiesta with the 1.25 engine.....in 62ps guise. He's an 18 year old boy he will crash it, at least with the 1.25 he'll not going so quickly when he does.
From my experience with young lads and cars, it doesnt matter wether its 60bhp or 160bhp, if they are going to crash it'll happen anyway... But better drivers learn from lower powered cars

But he is 'rid of' lol..he doesn't live at home he goes to his companies sites and they pay for his accommodation etc. He even contributes £50 p/m for our council tax. for tax reasons.
His future property aspirations are in hand we have the luck of living in the North and my and his Mums first house is waiting for him when he chooses to settle in one place if he decides to plant his feet around us.
So .... lol thanks for your contribution but my reasoning is sound..lol
I like the involvement with french hatches, Renault seem to still have a lot of motorsport heritage in their lineup. The Fiesta will be safer and probably be more reliable but it'll become just a method of transport very quickly, I think the Clio will be appreciated a little more and have that 'edge' about it.
So he had a house waiting for him and you are buying him a car jammy b
d...
But Fiesta out of those choices the Clio is just a s
tty replica of a proper clio 200.
Why you would spend 11k on one I don't know though when you can get a nice one for about 7k -8k
He could then spend the change on the official mountune performance kit or a lot of beer...

Why are we criticizing someone for wanting to spend a certain amount of cash on their sibling? It's their choice, they have the money, they can do what they please. I never had that and had to scrimp and save every penny to get where I am now, but I do not begrudge a parent that is in the position to treat a son/daughter if they are able to do so... it will only end up in there pockets eventually in passing anyway, may as well see them enjoy it.
