Driving gift experiences. Advice needed!
Discussion
I recently purchased a gift experience for my dad for Christmas from "Virgin Experiences" (as in Richard Branson rather than anything sordid)! As a perk, they sent me a 10% off voucher, which got me thinking, as my wife had asked me what I wanted for Christmas. On the driving section, they were offering a 60 minute on-road driving experience with an advanced driving instructor in a Jaguar XKR-S for £80, which sounded quite reasonable to me! I have driven a Ferrari on track before and also, as I used to work in the motor trade been to new car launches on track and driven my own car around the Nurburgring, so I feel like I've done the whole track thing. The other problem with these type of things is that you usually only get about 3 laps in the car that you really want to drive!
I would really like to experience driving a properly fast car on the road, on some decent roads, for a decent amount of time/distance. Unfortunately, on the website it says that it is only available between March and October and as I am going out of the country to work at the end of March, that limits me a bit. When I phoned them up, they said that all their cars were booked out in March on events, which is annoying.
This company is based in Northamptonshire (Towcester) and by the looks of it, the Daily Mail offers a similar experience but with the same company (so same problem). Red Letter Days don't seem to offer any on-road driving experiences and nothing else came up on a google search.
Does anyone know of any other companies that offer reasonably priced on-road driving experiences (£100 or less)? I would have been happy with the Jag but something similar in an Aston, Granturismo, GTR, 911 or Ferrari would be perfectly acceptable. I live in Gloucestershire and don't really want to travel for more than about 2 hours.
Many thanks.
Merry Christmas!
