I thought the MG ZT V8 was badged as '260', so was a little confused to see one earlier showing '400' on its rump. So could it have been a DIY badged 260, or was this an official model hiding a little something extra under the bonnet?

I suspect a supercharged 260 that someone had "upgraded" the badge on as well.

I did wonder if perhaps a 'blower' might be involved. I imagine that could be fun and a bit of a 'sleeper' too.

I think there is about 30 out there with a V8 4.6 coupled with a Rouch(sic) supercharger.

I've seen one in the flesh and it sounded lovely.

The factory mule had a Roush S/C but most (all?) aftermarket conversions are done by Dreadnought garage in Scotland who fit a Kenne Bell S/C, and a new 400 badge.

Roush being the famous, hat wearing, Nascar Team owning, Ford tuning Jack Roush. The two rival tuners in the Mustang market are Roush and Shelby.

The Rover had a Ford 4.6 V8 lifted from the Mustang line at the time.

Good knowledge.

The one I saw was parked up and looking rather understated (as Rover 75 variants do), except for the two large diameter tailpipes. I didn't hear it start-up or drive-off, but I'm sure it would have sounded fiarly hefty.

Interesting.

Like the Passat W8, cars like the V8 ZT have a certain appeal for me. A supercharged version sounds great.

harsh, at least there was an acknowledgement of probable error, unlike most on here.

It probably had XPower exhausts in which case it would sound a bit like mine did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQOlGryDcJs

It was a bit harsh, but to acknowledge a possible error with a definite one is just silliness! (also not that hard to look up the correct spelling when one is connected to the internet, is it?) Anyway, carry on!

it was a MK1 pre face lift so only about 25 made like that so was very rare

even wiht 260 bhp it went nice, was not a race car but still had loads of grunt

The supercharger conversion sounds like a good option for these but it is hugely expensive, I may be missing something but isnt it a bolt on modification ? yet I heard it costs seven grand for the charger to be fitted, so that is one supercharger, brackets, belt, pipework and some ecu changes, in the states they are less than that in dollars.
