In terms of rarity, price and looks, what cars of today do you think will increase in value that much, that will end up in storage or a museum, polished everyday, and rarely seen other than at exhibitions, car shows etc...?

Even the experts don't know what the next big thing will be. Part of the problem is the high production numbers of recent cars - they just arent rare anymore (mind you, over 700 bugatti 57's were produced, although its only the super rare versions, like the sc atlantic that are worth mega money).
I'd go with ferrari f40's, mclaren f1's and zonda's continuing to rise. But I cant see them being worth 10m+, I cant see anything recent being worth that sort of money... (infamous last words)

Zonda yes, the rest no.

I would say the EB110 will rise dramatically, £215k up to £500k in 5 years or so I recon. Also I can see the F40 going from (roughly) £400k to £750k in the same time frame.

Other cars that I think will rise reasonably well: Diablo, Scud, LP670, CGT, MKI Gallardo SL's, Ford GT's etc.

I'm sure a Koenigsegg will creep up in value at some point...

I think most of the cars being mentioned here aren't in the same limited production. There were 39 250 GTOs, and the Bugatti 57s that command the big premiums 9of the 700-odd produced) are the exclusvie ones, such as the Atlantic (of which 2 remain).

Whilst the McLaren F1, Ferrari F40 and Pagani Zonda will command premiums because of the type of car they are, I can't see cars such as the Aventador, Gallardo etc getting to such dizzy heights.

Was the EB110 that highly regarded? Or indeed, the Henessey venom? They may command a premium, but I can't see them hitting the £10m+ bracket.

Only extreme limited editions which were the pinnicle of their time can justify serious money. In recent times only really the McLaren F1, 288 GTO and maybe the Zonda stand out as having the potential to be £10 million cars. EB110, Koenigsegg, Venom, etc. will never come anywhere near.

Famous last words, maybe.

The Aventador J and the Stirling Moss SLR. I feel that the ones mentioned above are'nt special enough and are too mass produced to really increase in value massively.

Personally I can't see it. They're styling exercises - they have no racing pedigree (AFAIK)

Aston One-77 is a good shout.
Alfa 8c? Although I guess not escalating to the same levels financially?

EDIT: Oh, Carrera GT?

I guess the days of super strictly limited runs of hypercars are mostly past us now frown You don't see too much in the way of coachbuilt uniqueness.
Although some of the Sultan of Brunei's Italian Flock, Clapton's Ferrari, and the 'Modern Stratos'?

This is the only recent car that I can see getting near any of the above.

I agree with the Zonda, especially some of the limited editions such as the Cinque. The other bonus i would say with the Zonda is they are fairly low-tech compared to the likes of the Veyron.

The gto has race heritage, and there were on 39. So none of cars mentioned will get any where near the gto for rarity or value. My guess would be the maserati mc12 race car. V12, Italian, and bloody rare.

Was just about to post the same thing. In most instances (although not all) what really drives the value of cars at the very top end of the market is rarity and provenance. Most of the cars already mentioned have only one of these. Some, in comparison to a 250 GTO's level of rarity, have neither.

McLaren F1 is definitely the most likely candidate of anything we've seen in the last 20 years or so, IMO.

I can see the zonda having a heavy price tag in years to come... but what makes it different to say a gumpert Apollo or ascari a10 they are still just as rare, or is it the popularity of the car that will add these huge figures to there name? I also think the clk gtr would have a chance maybe?
