why's that then? Seems like an odd choice of number to me. It was on the back of a trailer I saw earlier. A proper big articulated lorry; the trailer was a long flat one like you would carry logs on, or something.

Yep 56mph in general or 90kmh which incidentally is exactly 25 metre's a second. In my previous job i dealt with lorry drivers nearly day to day i would often ask about their limiters, some were the standard 56 some 55 or 54 all in the name of fuel consumption apparently. Teso lorries are limited to 48 apparently, it's madness really i was sat in an artic pulling an over sized load and we steamed past a tesco truck which was pulling a small trailer. Not sure how small but it didn't look the usual 40 foot. Getting stuck behind a tesco lorry can really rein a trip on the A9 to or from Inverness.

If you're stuck behind it that would assume you're on a single carriageway in which case 48mph is speeding anyway?

It won't be limited to 40, if on a single carriageway he's just sticking to the law!
The driver was probably just as irritated as you

It's also something that's in need of urgent review, especially on roads like the A9

I always sit at 50 at least on roads as such, there's far less suicidal overtaking from impatient motorists than sitting at 40

Iirc most Tesco drivers are either agency or on a very nice pay package and if they can delay their return to the depot then it's all good! 40mph? All good. thumbup

Also, they're all timed on deliveries so can't go too quick.

Yes. They need to look at the 40mph limit for all trucks.

They're all agency at Tesco. They also will basically never delay their return to depot, as a majority of them go to express stores where even if they arrive on time, chances are they have to wait a while for space in the shop/staff to become available before they can even tip.

Sorry, I thought it was 50, they do seem to be only trucks that stick to that though!

If unrestricted I'd imagine they could reach quite alarming speeds. Dunno what that would be mind.
