Car 0 Deer 0

Was just cresting a blind dip no more than a 1/4 from my home, as I was entering it I saw a set of reflected eyes go from my side of the road to the right and disappear, then by the time I got to where they had been they darted back across and straight in front of me. I was only doing about 30mph as I know the area is dodgy for creatures great and small at that time, but my god the damage.

A quick look and its busted the front bumper, entered through the lower grill which I guess is meant to just give way in these circumstances. Its then only had the radiator and ac condensor to slow down with, which its punched through and then gone downwards under the engine.

I pulled up just a bit up the road, and heard the horrible sound of water/fluids leaking and knew it wasn't just a 'buff out' job.

To say I'm gutted is an understatement. This was my first newish car to me, worked so hard to buy it, it may only be a Focus to most of you guys, but I cherish it like a child. Feel like I've let it down but honestly didn't know what else I could've done.

Not really sure what I'm expecting from this, just wanted a rant/some deer based jokes.

Photos of the car to follow once it gets light.

I once hit a deer with a RR Classic (93 County LWB AKA Vogue LSE so a big 'un) with a nice rhino bar on it. I was also towing a trailer with a Mk2 Ford Zephyr on it.

I had slowed from 70 to about 45. Hit deer, felt it, but I was so damn heavy that I literally knocked the deer airborne a good 10 feet or so.

Bambi didn't make it. RR had a broken fog light.

st happens.

Same happened to me a year ago. Nothing I could have done it jumped out of the bushes on NSL road which was wet.

Did get me thinking of it had been a child I wouldn't have been able to avoid impact which is a very scary thought it happens so quickly I mashed the brake pedal as hard as I could and wasn't able to swerve as oncoming car other way plus 10 foot hedge with mature trees beside me so straight on into it.

If you flip up a dee they can his your windscreen and come in - if they do and legs first you will be repeatedly kicked in the head ! Not a pleasant way to go.

Do you know many children who hide in hedgerows on NSL roads, then jump out in front of traffic?

OP: Shame to hear that, at least you're in one piece!

I know a nearly doesn't count on here, but driving back from the Crown at Pishill following a v nice meal,in the proper RR ( not the R rover type initials) and taking it sedately. turned a bend and there were 5 of the buggers on the offside verge, luckily they had respect for a well built British vehicle, and in deference went through the hedge their side. A horrible thought went through my mind.

The boot's not big enough for 5 carcasses and i was 4 up!!

Hope you get it sorted out

Jesus what's wrong with you? He's got himself what he deems a half decent car after saving up and now he's gutted (and probably still in a bit of shock) that's it's very badly damaged.

Cut the guy some slack you miserable sod!
