We currently run a 10 plate Audi Q7 as the family bus. To be fair up to recently it has been performing faultlessly however the e-brake gas strut has failed twice within a month. I know it's a common problem but it is obvious the design is flawed and I am not sure how much it will cost to replace when warranty runs out.

We've been thinking to purchase another cheaper car to replace it as we've just finished off paying the finance on this car. We don't really need the 7 seats at the moment although it would be a bonus. However the missus would require reverse cameras, sunroof and fairly spacious cars for 1 booster seat and 2 child seats (over 3 years). I've been looking at Range Rovers as they seem to be good value now but not sure if it would cost the earth to run.

What would be other alternatives? I've thought about the Volvo XC90 but have heard bad reviews of it. Another choice would be the Discovery. Any thoughts? Should I just stick to the Q7 until the warranty runs out in around 6 months time?

Since this is the Lounge, I'll go Coke & Hookers. Or UKIP. Or "Smash her back doors in".

I'll look really daft if that happens. wink

On a more serious note I'd be inclined to run the Q7 until the warranty runs out - better the devil you know, and all that.

Yes, I've been thinking about that too but the depreciation hits Q7 really hard and not sure if it would be better to trade up now while the mileage is still relatively low and warranty still in effect.

edit: Wow that was quick smile Just reported my thread a minute ago! Many mods lurk PH I guess
