I'm having trouble re-insuring my 1987 Land Rover 110 station wagon; it has 9 seats (as standard fit), which is the problem. Insurers seem to have gone off >7 seaters recently.

It has been off the road for a bit; previously, it was insured through Lancaster Insurance, who sold me an Allianz Classic policy. Allianz are no longer on their panel, and seem to not be in that market any longer. Most other people won't quote for >7 seats.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'm waiting for call-backs from Flux and NFU Mutual. And, err, I'm in London E1, just to make it a little trickier smile

My dad had a problem with a 7 seater van recently, the only way he could get it insured (for a reasonable price) was to take some seats out. They were fine with that, and were fully aware all he was doing was taking a bench out the back.

I think NFU Mutual are the people for these.

That would seem logical... except that Lancaster would be happy to quote me if I took 1 side-facing bench out and insured it as a modified 7-seater!

It seems as though Highway will quote without asking about the number of seats, and without any specific exclusions in their policy documents as to number of seats. In fact, the policy specifically talks about vehicles with no more than 8 seats (excluding the driver). We shall see; need to check this in the morning.

Disco 2 rear seats are front facing.
