Sorry if this has been asked before but how do feel about somebody photographing your exotic car if it is say parked up on the street or when your driving down the road in it?

Would you let them carry on if you noticed them or would you tell them to stop?

Pisses me off. Don't mind the practise per se, but reg numbers should be removed.

Would be nice to hear from people who find it annoying. I can't see why it'd be the case. It's not like its a silver BMW 3 series that's going to get used for license plate cloning and used for criminal activities.

I don't understand the reg thing.
Why should the reg be blanked?
People can read your reg whilst you are driving down the road, they aren't going to trawl the internet trying to find pictures of cars plates to clone.

Didn't mind me I remember when I ran the mini I let a Chinese tourist take a few photos of his son in the car. He didn't speak much money but he was really thrilled and I would have loved to have seen them crop up online somewhere...

I too would be interested to know why people have a problem with their number plate being visible in photos confused

Happens to me sometimes. Several times I have let parents sit their kids in the driving seat to take photos (the Caterham)

Well, if the car is parked or driving in a public place you have no say in the matter. Just as I may take pictures of anyone I feel like in a public place.

Although, I would consider it acceptable and correct to ask first. As with many things in life, whilst the request will very rarely be declined and the questonee probably knows they have no choice in the matter, it's common courtesy. Something seemingly increasingly lacking these days.

My car is not exotic or a supercar but it turns heads and people get their phones out ocassionally.

I actually like it lol

Infact if I won the lottery I'd have an in your face look at me type of car for weekends without a doubt as well as something subtle and fast as a daily driver.

Not 'exotic' here either but I've had plently of people take photos of my car, some asked, some didn't... love it either way! Nothing like that for making your head bigger

There is no need to ask at all. It has nothing to do with courtesy. Different if someone opened the door and started taking p[ics of the interior but other than that there is no issue. Its in the public domain.

Is it just me or is the concept of having the right to dictate what the photons that have bounced off something you own are then allowed to hit a little weird.

Happened to me at the top of Stelvio.
My mate in his Imprezza was impressed beyond words at the Italians leaning on his gleaming PS3-on-wheels to get a photo of my crappy go kart from Surrey. hehe

I looked out my window and seen someone taking pictures of my car and must admit i went out and told him to do one. In my defense i had recently watched gone in 60 seconds but there is a big difference between them taking them at a car show/in the street and on my property IMO

No point getting upset about it imo.
If you are in a public place there`s nothing much you can do about it.

If you`re driving something really rare/eyecatching then you kind of have to expect the attention anyway.

Spotted a black 1960's dodge Charger today and it made me think of this thread. Wondered to myself if I should go up and ask the owner if its ok to take pics. Too shy for that, so took some sneaky pictures in while he wasn't looking. Will put it on the 'bad parking thread' in the evening. biggrin

Never had an 'exotic' as such but I've had a few classics and I've always been only too happy for people to take pictures of it. As has been said already, if it's on the public highway it's fair game, what harm can it do?
