Brazil produced the really old VW's (They stopped producing Beetles and Campers not that long ago).
300SL Gullwing and a MK1 GTi for me too
The difficulty would be getting it to pass all the modern EU safety and construction regulations.
Although low volume production and imports do get some 'wiggle room'

Was wondering if you asked a car manufacturer to build an older model that is no longer in production would this be possible like a brand new Mk 1 Golf Gti
If they still had the tooling I guess it could be done, if not they could hand-build it. It would be ££££ though.

I think SA stopped in 2009. Sure that you could find a very low mileage one.
Also, for most cars from the last 30 years, with the exception of the shell, you can still buy all the parts. So no reason why you couldn't build yourself a "new" one. OK, you may have to recondition the gearbox and probably start with a used block/head etc.
