Going for a drive on Christmas day
Discussion
I'm seriously thinking of going for a drive early tomorrow morning and taking advantage of what I presume will be very empty roads.
The family will be asleep till around 9/10ish, I always wake up at stupid O'Clock anyway, the North Yorkshire Moors are only 20 minutes away and I'm finding it hard to find reasons not to, except rain, seems like a good idea to me.
So PH, any others out there planning a Christmas hoon? Anyone done it in previous years?

Yep, I'll be out tomorrow in the trusty steed taking advantage of the hopefully empty roads in Cambridgeshire!
quite looking forward to that festive razz about!
And yes I done it last year too, although it was to 'test' the new golf ball gear knob I got given as a gift for my Golf GTI I had!
Enjoy your festive hoon OP, I sure will be!

Won't be this year, but have been known to have a blast on Christmas Day Morning. Not much fun in Skoda Estate!!!
Anyway, a word to the wise - 2 years ago on New Years eve, a mate of mine went for a blast on the roads around Essex, and due to no fault of his own, ended up in hospital for 6 months, having nearly killed himself when his Skyline went for an unexpected tumble.
Fortunately, he's now recovered, but just take it easy, it's not just your behaviour that can cause you problems. In my mates case it was a nail on the road, which caused a blow out spinning his car off the road, and into a ditch, via a tree.
Enjoy your hoon (wish I had something worth hooning!) but be carefull, not worth the heartache any time of year, but particularly at this time of year.

Yep, if the weather is half decent we'll be out for a top-down blast in my GF's MX5. Dartmoor is 10 minutes away so it'd be rude not to.
I'll be hooning on and around Dartmoor too. Look out for a ropey red MR2

I used to plan to have an hour or more at the wheel of my Caterham and Cerbera on Christmas day and during any football final.
I don't have a sportscar at the mo, so I won't clutter up the roads tomorrow.
Surely the gamble with that is that if you mistime it slightly you run the risk of coming across drink-drivers on their way back from the pub/lunch with the in-laws/etc. ?I don't have a sportscar at the mo, so I won't clutter up the roads tomorrow.

if I lived a few minutes from the moors I would be all over that...
