Assuming you bought a brand new car from a main dealer which came with 3 year, 100,000 miles guarantee, would you expect shock absorbers to be part of normal wear and tear, like brakes and tyres?

Reason I ask, I have a vauxhall movano, bought from new. It's less than 2 years old and done 50,000 miles and never been overloaded.

Rear nearside tyre is wearing very badly on the outside edge. Thought it was just the tracking until I looked closer yesterday and noticed the tyre looks like an old thru penny bit (not round anymore!)

Cheers

I don't think it would be unfortunately.

I think there are too many variables at 50k miles for Vauxhall to allow a claim off the warranty. Overloading (although you say it wasn't), driven over potholes etc

I would expect suspension to be covered under the warranty.

It was on a Merc I had.

I would argue it should be covered - its only two years old and should not really have to be replaced now with only 50k on the clock - not the best

You've quoted lifetime warranty terms there and I'm not sure the movano is sold with that, plus the op stated 3 years 100k so I'm confused as to what cover was sold.
Either way I'd still say not covered as wear and tear.

The Vauxhall "Lifetime" warranty is a 100k mile warranty.

I know the lifetime warranty is 100k as the wife has a meriva, if you though read the original post and the whole of my response that you have selectively quoted the op states 3 years as being the timeframe ..... see the confusion. ?

Vauxhall’s new vehicle warranty ensures your peace of mind against material or manufacturing defect for three years (unlimited mileage for the first 12 months and subject to a total mileage limit of 60,000 miles from first registration). This applies to all cars and vans except Vivaro and New Movano, the additional warranty for which carries a limit of 100,000 miles from first registration

Right, Lifetime warranty only applies to passenger cars. 3 years/100k miles is correct for the Movano.

A few years ago I had a shock absorber fail after less than 25k miles. This was not covered by the warranty but a polite phonecall to Renault UK resulted in the work being done for free and under warranty. It could be worth trying a similar approach?

Going by that, the shocker isn't necessarily faulty anyway.

could just be a tyre that's had enough and fallen apart.
