Well it seems someone didn't get what they wanted for Christmas! Despite doing 25mph on a NSL road traveling on a nice open, country A-road giving about 4 meters of space isn't enough for some people. I passed with consideration and also had the car in a very low RPM and for all of this I was given the finger.

Of course there was a lovely line of horse st behind them so it's nice to know that they're just as inconsiderate as I am...

At least they weren't wearing their pseudo-Police vests this time smile

25mph is too fast IMO. You should really creep past them. Still, the horse rider was a bell end for throwing around hand gestures like that.

Ive had this happen to me many times too, slowed right down and given plenty of space, and still get abuse from a few horse riders, most are polite though and say thanks, at the risk of offending any horse riding PH members, i bloody hate the things on the road. Some of them do really think they own the roads.

As someone that grew up on a farm with horses, I really don't have much time for modern day horse riders. Most are so far stuck up there own arse.....likewise so many don't appear to have much of a clue about how to ride let alone riding on the road.

Never saw the woman in my life but I'd like to have a chat at some point. Hopefully her well-built director of a husband will be there too.

I live on an NSL road. There are currently sheep sleeping on it. I think horses will be fine!

I was at the Boxing day hunt this morning and I have to say there were a few ladies riding horses I'd have given a finger too.

There's an NSL road outside my wife's stables. The road is about 8ft wide on a steep hill with a sharp bend, you'd be a lunatic to do more than 15mph along it let alone 60 so just because it's an NSL doesn't mean you should drive to the max speed limit.

25mph is too fast I would suggest, I used to ride years ago and it can spook them.

I creep past them when passing.

On the other hand I do find some riders incredibly selfish and a PITA on the road.

25mph sounds a bit much past a horse to be honest. I slow right down whenever I pass them.

I met some very nice horse riders when doing my CBT. Went past at about 10, got a wave and a smile from them all...got a thing for (female) horse riders...

I'm told by the OH (a horse rider) that creeping past too slowly can also spook the horses - apparently the best thing to do is to go past at about 15-20 mph, and not give it full beans as soon as you are past, obviously.

No, the best thing to do if your horse is going to st itself when it is passed by a fking car, on a fking road (where you should generally expect to encounter a fking car) is to fking stay in the field. fk, fkety horse st fk!
