Seems to be under rated on PH. Type Rs tend to dominate hot hatch threads and Clios have gained admiration.

Cambelt change costs an arm and a leg but then its only 72k miles. Consequently there a number of cheap ones available.

The 225 megane itself just wasn't a very good car and had numerous stupid build quality faults (door panels filling up with water anyone?) which were not made up for by other aspects of the car as the handling of it wasn't great by renault standards and the turbo lag was also quite poor.. it was a rare poor effort from the renaultsport department.

The special editions however were massive massive improvements on the base car, the R26 230 F1 is a brilliant hot hatch, almost a completely different car (not the R26.R which although brilliant, is a bit hardcore for everyday use for most)

Cambelt is 5yrs/ 72k whichever is sooner..
Window regs go for a past time, key cards are fragile, steering arms etc wear..
The R26 is the pic of the range (R26 R is in a different price bracket) but I wouldnt touch one of the early non cup packed cars with a barge pole..
