2 kids? Why would you get a 7 seater over a estate?

Me and my 2 brothers never had a 7 seater except for a discovery and we never ever used those last 2 seats in the boot.

Never a sensible choice imo biggrin

Is there a particular reason for needing the 7 seats if theres only 2 kids?

I knew i should've posted this on mumsnet..... she just wants a 7 seater, ok?!!

W124 is lovely but too much potential cost, and she'd scuff it up something awful. We're talking white goods end of the spectrum here.

Disco i had thought about but it looks a bit rough and again, parts cost on this vs similar MPVs? don't know, i'm just asking.

I really just want to know more about Zafira vs Grand Scenic rather than cars that she may not have thought about.

I bought the wife a 2003 1.6 Zafira for running the kids and their mates around and it has been a good car for her.

Very spacious and practical, almost 40mpg, very cheap to fix, although it's never broken down, but service items are pennies (brembo front discs and pads for under £60)

It's not a ph car but it does do exactly what it says on the tin, I wouldn't recommend a scenic of the same year, a company I used to work for ran a fleet of 150 of them and had no end of issues.

As is offer the case with a low budget, the best option is to cast the net wide and look for that well looked after local gem instead of being fussy about exact models.

I would add the Ford Galaxy family to your list. I've known several of these take severe abuse and still do 200k. They are tall but not too bad to park.

7 seats could be for 2x kids, 2x parents, 2x grandparents? Plus a spare for a future child or storage folded down. Not unreasonable really.

This was my feeling, I just didn't know if it was justified
