I have no practical reason to have a 2 seater, or a need for a second car.

Last week I PX'd my lovely 2011 MX-5 for a new Land Rover.

The MX-5 replaced my immaculate and fairly reliable MGF. I actually got teary when it went. I loved that car.

Year on and the person I sold it to doesn't want it. IMO they've buggered it up with council estate black wheels and for some reason the black leather seats are now alcantara....

Nothing that can't be undone, and each to their own and all that.

Buying it back would be an option, but I think you can never really go home so to speak. Seeing an ex-girlfriend years later is rarely a good idea.

But what about another MGF? I have had two over the years, plus a TF. i know the pitfalls and the faults. I know my new MX-5 was centuries ahead, I know the last thing I really need is a potentially unreliable, old bit of BL tat built by Brummie communists.

I just have a yearning.

I would not buy it back. It is now "ruined". Find another.

To use the Ex analogy.

You have moved on and passed the once fine young filly to another bloke.

He has then defiled what you once remembered, rutting her into the ground, modifying her with gold hoop earrings and shell suit outfit.

After many years, the now tired looking version of your memory is back onto the market...

She will need a lot of work and may never ride the same, so do you take this chance to have her as the toy to use when you want, knowing it will be expensive and eventually ruin the outlook you have on the current model you use every day?

I say leave it to the memories, or potentially go down a path that many men do not think of after its been abused by another man?

Unless she has some mods that you paid for that make her special... leave well alone.

The sort of advice I need, especially as I casually mentioned the idea to my wife. She didn't say "no" and that means in her code, "If you want to, do it, but don't blame me/expect/me to become involved/expect me to pay for it."

So that's a green light from her.....but sloppy seconds. You are probably right.

It is a rare MGF, with the colour and old seat combo. I was the third owner. I was registeredas a demo. I did have the sales ticket with it signed by a salesman who sold my Dad a Rover years ago. It then went to live with a rich local lady until I got it, loved it fot 5 years, then in sold it on.

How badly do you want it? Do you want to live in regret? How special did she make you feel?
Dont live your life in regret. Well just fixed our mgf again after issues. I even applied and got accepted for a bank loan towards a shiny new ish elise.
We still love the cheap tart.

What do you have to lose?...
