Doing the rocker cover gasket on my 2.5 Diesel Jeep (first time i've ever done a rocker cover gasket).

The gasket is flat both sides, do I need to put sealant(loctite) on both sides, or just one, or neither even?

thanks

Gasket on its own should be fine, no need for sealant

Just don't over tighten else you will cut through the gas get causing it to leak

No sealant required. As said, watch out tightening it. The bolts should be shouldered to prevent you winding them in too far anyway, but go easy.

Only other thing to consider is if you need to get in there regularly (to do the tappets - not sure if they're self-adjusting on this engine or not) then a skim of grease on both sides of the gasket means it will come apart easily next time, without sticking to one of the surafces and breaking up into bits.
