So, 2013 is almost upon us and it made me realise just how lucky, and well I've done on car events during 2012. I've raised the bar on what I experience in 2013!

I'll not start, but allow others to get things rolling. No doubt I'll get inspiration on what to do next.

Week in the Highlands with my dad in the MX5 this summer, new engine proved reliable, sun was out quite a lot, the best roads in the country and largely traffic-free. Shame the miles took their toll in the suspension, now needs a rear damper and ARB links. Also did my first track day on the way up at Blyton Park, which was fun!

Another highlight was picking up my newest and quickest daily driver earlier this month, a Mk2 Fabia VRS.

My highlight was buying my 911. The lowlight was selling it after 9 months.

Maybe my second lesson in my instructors Megane - It was so smooth and precise. My instructor was with me and commented how confident I seemed and how that he was at ease. I got onto the back roads and keeping with a Maserati GranTurismo S as the sun was setting over the Peak District finished the lesson off nicely. cloud9

Driving around Dunsfold in the reasonably priced car was a highlight.

I also enjoyed having a ride in an XKR-S. I badly want one.

My first Sunday Service was fun.

Next year I hope to do more of the same, and maybe a European road trip. Hopefully I'll upgrade the Focus too.

Annual trips to the Wyedean rally, any rally on Epynt and the classic car show with my Dad.

Other than that I've just commuted. Next year I fully intend to borrow the mini more.

Buying my Westfield was the general highlight. Although I suppose all three cars failing to deliver a wallet shattering bill for 12 months was also a plus. No doubt my BMW will destroy engine / box / diff on the way to work tomorrow now though!

Well now you mention it, one of my highlights was driving one of these round the Nurburgring. I also nearly crashed it - going to the track from Jaguar's testcenter - into an angry German man. Boss man Stuart from PH was following me at the time.

A ride around Silverstone GP in an enthusiastically-driven Exige S and passing my IAM test were two high points, but my motoring highlight of 2012 was the Aston Martin Sunday Service. Wall-to-wall exotica, and many fascinating conversations with PHers and AM staff, the icing on the cake was a ride there and back in an F430, courtesy of a supremely generous PHer. A truly memorable day.

Another great years motoring for us.......
Managed to get the twin cam mini on the grid at Goodwood for the queens Jubilee.
Also visited the 'ring twice, once in the Z4M, got to drive the full vln circuit.
The next visit we took a mini and spent the weekend in the F1 pits with the historics (thanks to unexpected free tickets from a kind racer) as well as driving the Nordshleife again - never tire of it!

If we get to do similar again next year all the better.
Happy new year all.

Late night drive to a friend's house behind some other mates in a Fiesta ST and an RS Clio 200. Great fun, bwarp bwarp.

First passenger ride in an E39 M5 was an eye opener too.

Buying my first car at the grand old age of 37, and in best Pistonheads tradition, it's an MX5! biggrin

Bought my first motorbike, a lowly 125cc Suzuki GN125, then realised I LOVED biking, did my direct access and bought my 650 ER6f.

Had many a trip out on the bike that I would never have done without the bike, met people I count as real friends, and generally had a blast.

Oh, persuaded my Dad to do the same, which is cool.
