What is "Multiple impact brake activation "?
Discussion
Just received a flier from the local VW garage trying to flog us a new Golf to replace our existing one. (£16,780 for a 3 door 1.2, no thanks!)
On it is a huge list of "improvements" over our existing car including:
Multiple impact brake activation helps reduce the chance of a second impact"
Anyone?
The delights don't stop there however, it also has:
Chrome outlined logo on front radiator grille
Variable cup holder in rear centre armrest (it's not "variable" on ours, curses!)
Stowage luggage compartment cover
Rear parcel shelf stowage under the adjustable boot floor (err, so that's the same thing mentioned twice?)
Longer bonnet, more streamlined shape (it's a Golf!)
Lower profile, sportier look (It's still a Golf!)
Weight saving of 100kg (woohoo!)
And my personal favourite - Gloss black mirror mounting bracket!!
Be still my beating heart!

Get yourself online and see how cheap you can get one, then one day your local dealer will stop sending you leaflets and cheering your day up.Be still my beating heart!

Even if you're still moving?
Yes, in the event of an impact the car will start to brake automatically, you could have fallen asleep at the wheel for example and have zero control over the car hence would not be braking. The systems stops you bouncing off one car and then smashing into another.After_Shock said:

That makes sense. Although if you were doing 70 on a motorway and someone sideswiped you because they pulled out without looking, maybe the last thing you'd want is your car performing a full on emergency stop in lane 3.

All the impact sensors are linked in the cars so it knows which area has been hit, will also have a speed system built in so it wont slam the brakes on at 100mph if you run over a fox or something.Guess it depends on the parameters, maybe it's like airbags, has to be a severe enough impact to trigger it.
Sounds like a good idea, it might stop the car meandering into the oncoming lane following a shunt.
On the subject of listing everything fitted to the car in an advert, I'm currently trying to sell a car and have gone to great lengths to avoid this.
I can't stand trying to sift through adverts where they list things like: pollen filter, headrests & adjustable seatbelts. If you're looking at a certain car you can probably take it as read that it has seatbelts and a steering wheel.
