Just had an email from eChoice who I insured with in November.

I took the policy out on my Rover 45. There was no mention of having to send any proof in of NCD, but I hunted and found ti buried in the small print. I read through carefully and the ONLY reference to any documentation they needed was my no claims discount - which i sent recorded delivery.

Since Novemeber they have taken my deposit and three direct debits. I also changed the policy over to my new car on the 19th December.

I have received an email this evening (23:42 02/01/2013) saying I have not sent the 'required' documentation including: scans of my driving license & the named drivers, and the V5C for my vehicle (NOT a copy). I have not received a request from them for these documents AT ALL. As above I had to go searching to check whether I should send in my proof of NCD.

They are threatening to cancel my insurance policy ASAP if this can't be resolved HOWEVER there is a problem. Well, two to be precise.

1. I haven't got the V5C for my new vehicle from the DVLA yet.
2. I lost my wallet over Christmas and haven't received my replacement photocard license yet - although I do have the paper counterpart.

Is this normal practise these days?!

fk - it's all int he FAQs on their site. Still think it should be up front.

Interestingly the registration they quote is the first car I insured with them, not the car that is currently insured with them. I do have the V5c for that car - it's the new one that's not arrived yet. I guess they'll want both though??

Still think it's a bit harsh to assume people will read the FAQs.

Just to say this matter has been cleared up. I wasn't selected for any validation checks (hence nothing to tell me what I should send in!) but confused them by sending details of my NCD in off my own back.

Phew!

All sorted.
