Hi All
Need some help, got a potential job near the Excel arena and were planning to relocate to Saffron Walden ish area due to partners job and schools. I'll need to be at work between 7 and 8am and leave between 5 & 6pm. The question is what sort of traffic can i expect to hit in both directions at that time? Google maps is telling me approx 1hr but i'm not sure it allows for congestion etc?
Cheers!

If you are planning that drive every day, all I can say is good luck! I think that will take you closer to 2 hours each way, especially with trying to escape from the city via the North Circular! Better of taking the train from Audley End IMO.

Leave at 05.30 and you should be ok. Leave it much later and it starts to get snarled up through Loughton onto the 406, but once you get past the A12 Redbridge roundabout it normally isn't to bad unless there is an accident. Shouldn't take you more than an hour that time of day.

Having said that using the M11 as a daily commute is always risky.

PS. Nice town Saffron Walden.

No chance. I'd drive any day, air con, no smelly bar staward next to you every morning!!

I manage to get from the out skirts of Braintree to Peckham in 1:15 hours of a morning and night using the M11 around the same times as you. There is a fine window with the 3 to 2 lanes at Redbridge but it never takes more than 10-15 mins to clear. Suprisingly the A12 from the Redbridge roundabout is free flowing right to the tunnel that time of the morning so it may be quicker going that way and then skooting through docklands against the traffic rather than heading direct on the A406 towards the A13 from Redbridge.

this.
and i'd def scoot round docklands after the beckton roundabout.
as stated the stickiest wicket is where it drops from 3-2 lanes at the bottom of the m11.
on the whole the m11 is ok outside of the m25, but when it goes wrong, it can be really wrong.
