Selling a car with finance, is this suitable for the ad?
Discussion
Looking to sell my car which has outstanding finance on it, I was going to add this to the advert
"Yes there is outstanding finance on the car and that will be cleared before you take the car away. I shall call the finance company (fiance company name here) to get through the security questions and then hand the phone to you to make the payment."
Is that fair enough or would you word it better than that?

I alway think it puts people off personally."Yes there is outstanding finance on the car and that will be cleared before you take the car away. I shall call the finance company (fiance company name here) to get through the security questions and then hand the phone to you to make the payment."

I'd wait until someone is viewing the car, then explain payment would be made direct to the finance company by them, either by cheque, bankers draft or cash at their local office or over the phone, and that you will pay any difference should there be any.
If someone asks directly over the phone, then i'd explain the above.
I'm currently in the middle of buying a car with finance on it.
The advert did not detail the finance but once I viewed the car the guy was upfront about it. If the advert did mention finance then I probably wouldn't have viewed the car.
I think it's good idea to build a rapport with the potential buyer, they will then be more willing to come to an arrangment.
I hope this helps?

Yea I suppose that all makes sense, I too would probably not view a car if it was listed with finance outstanding. Cheers guysThe advert did not detail the finance but once I viewed the car the guy was upfront about it. If the advert did mention finance then I probably wouldn't have viewed the car.

Well can I say I disagree?
I would be a bit miffed if I went to see a car for the owner to then turn around and say there is finance outstanding on it...
Especially considering in some cases I would have paid for an HPI check before going to see a car (depending on how far it is of course)... ?
Actually the scenario probably should hopefully not occur as it would be one of my questions before I went to see a car?
What would you do then? Deny it?
So personally I think its better to be up front in the advert but yes that reduces your population of viewers - funnily enough by those that don't want to buy a car with finance... surely that is better for both you and the potential buyer? ??
