My current mode of transport:

I can feel the hate from the anti-Motability types as I drive it around hehe

Hyundai I10? sweet engine and handling but bit of body roll. very noisey road noise though.

Unbelievable amounts of body roll especially compared with my old Picanto which I thought it shared a lot of components with. I agree on the road noise too, much noiser than my Picanto was.

The car itself is an adequate courtesy car, it could do without the Motability decals on every panel!

My dad always says a second class drive is always better than a first class walk. Hard to argue with that tbh.

When I used to take my Beetle in for service repairs I used to get a silver 1978 VW Derby with a blue velour interior. This was in 1993.

Should be the only available Motability vehicle unless the disability prevents you from driving such a vehicle on safety reasons (obesity should not be one of those reasons)

Many years ago I dropped a Honda Accord off at the dealer for a service having already asked for a courtesy car.

For a second I thought I was being given an S2000, as the sales chap pointed the remote at a nice gunmetal one as we walked toward it

But the bleep came from just behind the S2000...a Honda Jazz.

Great.

In metallic pink.

Double great.

I guess the upside is that no-one would query parking it in disabled spots. smile

They'd have to be mental to let someone loose in an S2000.

I've never been given anything too bad.

A few 'sheds' from various places but they're always good fun.

The scariest moment I've ever had was when I dropped off my car which was circa 300hp and was given a KA.

'Weee' thought I as I hit both the first and second roundabout between the garage and the M25. Was having a great time with the way they handled.

About 2 minutes later the reality of 60(?)hp and the different attitudes needed when joining a motorway were firmly rammed home.. eek

Hard to choose. La Rose used to have a crappy Mk2 Golf which had done 160K which was dire. Then when the Scimitar SS1 was having a new hood they loaned me a Triumph Herald 12/50 with no indicators. I drove from their place in Egham onto the Egham bypass turned around & dumped it straight back. Not in a million years was I driving it back to Chatham, I'd have died!

A high spec V8 Discovery going for a Punto was an irritance, but nothing more.

Having crashed my poor Alfa over Christmas, I'm currently rocking a 1.3 litre, diesel Corsa...

The horror.

1998 Nissan Micra 1.0, with a locked radio, virtually no clutch, and a heater that smelled of wet dog. That was in 2011. I now use a garage that doesn't provide courtesy cars. wink

Insurance people gave me at the time (was 18) quite a shocker of a car. I had a mk4 1.6 golf auto, s reg, in okay condition, worth a couple of grand and certainly nothing special, nevertheless it got written off by a lad that was a right pillock. Insurance co made sure a 2 year old alfa 159, 2.4 diesel auto rocked up at my house, a car that was then probably worth around 20k+ if not a lot more. I rang up and asked them if they were having a laugh, but no they were serious. Gave it back after 2 days when i had another look at the hire contract.
