What to do with a broken Range Rover Classic
Discussion
I bought a late (1993) Range Rover Classic last year off a mate as I had always liked and wanted one, I knew the car and thought why not, worth a punt, especially as it was a soft dash model
When I went to collect it, it wouldnt start, starter motor was knackered, fitted a new one and still no joy, tried everything, plugs, leads, cap rotor arm, etc, and still no joy.
I had it out to a chap that thinks the timing is out, I honestly have no idea, coupled to the fact it has no Tax or MOT, I'm loathe to spend a vast amount of money on it (strictly speaking it's a taboo subject with SWMBO, she is none too happy I bought it, less so I still have it, and she doesn't know it's a non runner)
It's now getting to the point where I cut my losses, I dont want a partially stripped RRC on my drive, I am only in the UK month at a time so I don't have much time to deal with time wasters, I am also loathe to just weigh it in as it would be a beautiful car once fixed, the leather interior is spotless and when I last looked inside it the headlining was good.
Any ideas? eBay my best bet?

Do you have a trusted mechanic and how much money do you want to spend on it?
You don’t seem to have the time to do it yourself and again you don’t seem to want to spend the money so you need to get rid of it. Put it down to experience but if it is a good as you say and its just work required getting it running then find a local specialist who knows what they are doing and fix it up – they are going up in asking price and the thinning out of the Classic trucks will only continue with a corresponding rise in values.
Failing that a breaker/trader who wants to export it out of the UK to sunnier climes or eBay will be your best bet for this, but as a non-runner with no MOT or tax it is not going to be good news and you are going to have to be around to deal with the sale anyway.
The last experience I had with a car that refused to start was a failed head-gasket and the block was full of water – it started just fine once all the water was out of the block and the radiator – just long enough for scrap.

To be honest, I've got no idea, I'd get £275-300 weighing it in, but I feel it would be a crime to do so
Gonna ask if my mum wants one still.Try email the address on http://experience4x4.com/
She was looking for 1 to for spares.
