Don't know why, it must be my inner child but I can't stop looking at these, I have the original escort cosworth tucked up in the garage and feel this would be a good all rounder just like the cosworth, does anyone have one who would like to comment what they are like to live with? Out of the colours I think I would prefer the white but it seem the best speced ones are the Lairy green uns, typical.

If it’s anything like the Focus ST then it’ll be nose heavy and skittish, in which case avoid.

It's a riot, put quite simply. The engine's a peach and the handling is excellent. It's quite a long way from an ST - they're very different in character. They're quick out of the box with 301bhp, but it's very easy to make them go faster. Indeed, I'm booking mine in tomorrow for Mountune's 345bhp MP350 upgrade. It also has loads of torque.

The standard car is reasonably well specced, but I would advise going for a car that has at least Lux Pack 1.

It's a funny car as in many ways it feels like sitting in an ordinary focus but with bucket seats. On the road though its got plenty of grunt and does handle pretty well. I hear the new one is due a 10% power increase so might be worth holding on if straight line speed is important to you.

Hmmm.

ST's as standard are fairly boat like, even with the optional eibach springs fitted. The RS goes a long way to improving this. Sharp, firm and can handle some monster power through the front wheels. Collins Performance (who have my ST running at circa 320hp) do an off the shelf 420hp conversion using nothing else than bolt on parts and a remap.

Be warned though, they are pants off the line compared to the cossie, electronic limiter in 1st and 2nd, but in gear acceleration will embarrass a lot of cars. Sound obscenely nice too.

Get yourself a test drive.

Or, in my experience, don't.

I owned an 11-plate green one for roughly 6 months, had a few minor'ish niggles, ended up getting rid a it ended up being impractical with getting my 4yr old daughter in and out.

Apart from the niggles, what a car. Power delivery, noise, handling - excellent.
