Am I mental?

My previous two G1 Insights were definately females (Citrus green one & Blue one), don't know why, just felt like females when driving.

However, the latest Insight (Black) is certainly a man.

When I was talking to the wife & kids they looked at me like I was a mentalist when I told them this.

The 500 is a girl, definitely! The 200sx is rather manly (I think) and the ZR is unisex.

Sounds about right.

Well your profile says you are a design engineer so they are probably correct.

As for cars I prefer to see them more as animals. My Griff 500 was definitely a spitting, roaring tiger, male of course, and my Westfield was a panther.

Your Insight is a pussy wink

All of the above might not be true.

Mines a standard white one with red stickers all over it. An Abarth EsseEsse is a cheeky chap. A standard one with wheeltrims and an interior as though a menstrating woman gushed in side is not manly in the slightest.

I'm not too fond of it hehe

That's how I see cars. There seems to be something slightly dodgy about ascribing gender characteristics to cars (and few things more cringeworthy than some Alan Partridge type talking about his MGB as though it's his wife).

My MR2 is a scorpion. Small, easily unnoticed, sting in the tail, potentially deadly.

I liken the Rangie to a stately home. Huge, costly to run, very English, and has lots of wood with some leather chairs in it, oh and there is usually a Labarador in it.

Depends where you live,

  • French - la voiture (feminine)
  • Spanish - el coche (masculine)
  • Italian - un'auto (feminine)
  • German - das auto (masculine)
  • English - 4x4 (feminine) School run, Tesco etc
  • English - sportscar (masculine) The open road...

This is a good topic. So many men call their cars girls and so do many women I feel because women tend to drive stereotypically girlie cars so have girls name…unless it’s a gay car???
I feel a majority of my cars are men, simply because I have owned manly type, big and butch cars, maybe a few runabouts or 2nd or 3rd cars may have been girls but my main cars like Mk2 Granada’s, big Volvo’s, the Custom cars, the American cars, all men!
