Want a project

Not sure where to post this, because I've deliberately made this broadly vague.

Sold my Cerbera last year and am now bored. Don't want to buy a finished article, I want something to get my hands dirty on.

So, don't want to spend much (read that as £500-£2000) and I can't weld but can do mechanical things. I really fancy building a kit car - how much would I need spend? Or an unfinished kit car/project from somewhere. Might even consider a boat!

Too 'finished' for me. I want something with the engine in boxes but a finished shell, sort of thing!

Y'know I was just thinking the same thing recently & I did wonder whether to make the suggestion in "website feedback" that a projects section might be worth a go.

I tried doing a used car search using the keyword "project" but didn't turn up much of interest.

No, me neither. I've done a search on ebay, but to be honest most of it is either over priced, not in my area of expertise or too far gone/complete.

There is nowhere really to go and search out a 'project'.
